Bayou Belle Sweet Potato Features:

The Bayou Belle sweet potato is a stunning deep orange flesh, reddish purple skinned sweet potato.  Its moist sweetness produces a firmly textured potato perfect for baking, mashing, or roasting.  The roots grow uniformly and are known for their resilience and good disease resistance, making this variety a reliable choice for home gardeners seeking a heavy yielding crop.

Bayou Belles produce medium to large, uniform, and well-shaped tubers with an improved shape over the Beauregard variety.  In the garden, its robust vines spread wide, creating a dense ground cover that naturally suppresses weeds.  This variety was released by LSU agricultural experiment station.  Add this true beauty to your garden today!

Bayou Belle Sweet Potato Growing Tips:

Bayou Belle sweet potatoes have a 90-100 day maturity date which makes them a great option for all growing regions. Growers in the northern states will love this variety because it has a shorter maturity date, allowing them to get a quality harvest without a long summer.

Our Bayou Belle sweet potato plants should be planted once soil temperatures warm significantly in the late spring and early summer months. Planting in cool soils will delay maturity. We recommend a 12" in-row plant spacing and a 4' row spacing for our Bayou Belle sweet potato plants.

Certified Sweet Potato Plants

All our sweet potato plants are inspected and certified to be disease-free. Our fields are regularly inspected and the sweet potatoes are checked daily during the harvest period.

The sweet potatoes are inspected again once in the storage house and checked a fourth time when placed in the beds for plant production.

This certification process is rigorous, but ensures our customers receive the highest-quality sweet potato plants.

  • Sweet potato plants should be planted once the risk of frost has passed and soils have warmed. Our plant shipping schedule ensures your sweet potato plants will arrive when your weather is ideal for planting. This schedule also ensures that you'll receive your plants in time for the sweet potato plants to reach full maturity before your first frost in fall.
